Duolingo English Test speaking practice

Describe real scenes, develop extended answers, rehearse the institution-facing sample and handle conversation-style follow-ups. Your audio stays in this browser unless you ask for optional AI feedback, and disappears when the page closes.

The real Interactive Speaking engine adapts to each response. Our original fixed follow-ups train topic shifts and timing without claiming to reproduce that proprietary adaptation. Read Duolingo’s format explanation.

Free AI feedback on your answer — how it works

  1. Record your answer with the real preparation and response timing. The recording stays in your browser until you ask for feedback.
  2. Pronunciation & fluency (optional): press the feedback button and that one recording is analysed by Microsoft Azure speech assessment. You get overall, accuracy and fluency scores plus your words highlighted where they were unclear, missed or broken by a pause. TestDayTwin does not keep the audio.
  3. Content (optional, after step 2): only the text transcript — never the recording — is sent to Google Gemini. Relevance, Development and Vocabulary range are rated Limited / Developing / Good / Strong — no fake DET score, because Duolingo scores holistically on 10–160 — with up to three strengths, up to three fixes and usually one sentence rewritten.

Up to 5 feedback checks per day, on practice drills only (never inside a timed mock). The ratings are practice estimates, not official scores — use them to decide what to fix on your next recording.

Picture Description

Outdoor market

Describe the image in detail. Explain what is happening, where people and objects are positioned, and what the scene suggests.
🎙️ Record your answer — Outdoor market20s prep · 90s to speak

Respond to the task above. Your recording remains on this device.

A preflight check requests permission but does not keep or upload audio.

Private: your recording stays in this browser unless you ask for pronunciation feedback, which sends that one recording to Microsoft Azure for analysis (TestDayTwin doesn't keep it). If you then ask for feedback on what you said, only the text transcript — never the recording — goes to Google Gemini.

Honest self-check

This is a reflection checklist, not a predicted official score.

Compare after recording
  • Start with the overall scene.
  • Describe two or three important actions and spatial relationships.
  • Add a cautious inference only when the image supports it.
