About TestDayTwin
An independent, free study site for the language tests that stand between people and a new life in Canada — IELTS, CELPIP, PTE Core, the Duolingo English Test, and the French TEF and TCF Canada. We prep all of them, sell none of them, and source every claim we make.
Why this exists
Language-test preparation is expensive and confusing. A single coaching course can cost more than the exam itself, the tools that give instant feedback usually sit behind a paywall, and half the "advice" online is out of date or contradicts itself. For someone whose permanent residence or study plans hinge on hitting a specific score, that's a stressful place to be.
TestDayTwin was built to close that gap: realistic, full-length practice for the major exams, scored instantly, free to use — plus a library of guides that answer the real questions (what score you need, what each rule actually is, which test suits you) from primary sources, with a verification date on every claim.
What makes it trustworthy
- Honest broker. Because we prep every one of these tests and don't sell any of them, we can compare them without a sales pitch — where each test's bar really sits, and which one suits your weakest skill. A single-test coaching site can't say that without cannibalising itself.
- Sourced and dated. The guides don't answer format and immigration questions with forum guesses. Every number — word counts, timing, CLB/NCLC thresholds, marking rules — is checked against the official test-maker pages or IRCC, and carries the date we verified it. When sources disagree, we say so and show which is authoritative.
- Original material only. Every question, passage and prompt is original, written to match the format and difficulty of each exam. We never reproduce real exam questions — that protects you (using leaked or memorised real items can get a candidate's results cancelled) and keeps us on the right side of copyright.
- Real exam formats. Each practice test mirrors the real thing: the same sections and timing, listening audio that plays once like exam day, and full-length mock tests where the real exam has them.
- Private by default. Reading and listening are scored right in your browser — your answers aren't uploaded. You don't need an account to practise.

How scoring works
Reading and listening are scored instantly against answer keys. Writing and speaking receive an estimated score with specific, criterion-by-criterion feedback. These are practice estimates to guide your study — not official predictions, and never a substitute for sitting the real exam. Speaking on the tests marked by human examiners (like IELTS) is prep material, not an auto-score, because no browser can honestly reproduce how those are judged.
Who runs it, and how it stays free
TestDayTwin is a small, independent project — not a company with a sales team. It's built and maintained by one person who spent six months teaching test prep, and who now puts most of the effort here into something less glamorous but more useful: checking, in detail, how each exam actually works right now. Formats change, rules get updated, and most prep advice online quietly goes stale — so every number and rule on the site is verified against the official source and dated, and the practice is rebuilt when a test changes.
TestDayTwin is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any exam board or IRCC. It's designed to be supported by carefully limited advertising so the practice and guides can stay free for the people who need them most.
