The Antikythera mechanism is a corroded bronze device recovered in 1901 from a Roman-era shipwreck near the small Greek island of Antikythera. For decades its purpose puzzled researchers, but modern imaging has revealed dozens of interlocking gears. Scholars now describe it as an analogue computer built in the second or first century BCE. By turning a hand crank, an operator could model the motions of the Sun and Moon and forecast eclipses years ahead. No other object of comparable mechanical sophistication survives from the ancient world until well over a thousand years later.

TRUE / FALSE / NOT GIVEN: The passage states that the Antikythera mechanism was powered by turning a hand crank.
